Exercise and dementia

Exercise with dementia, thanks to SilverFit

Earlier this summer SilverFit started with the project “exercising for people with dementia”. SilverFit executes the project together with DAZ, a care-innovation-agency, who is responsible for the monitoring and supervision of the project. For this project SilverFit systems has been placed in 16 residential care- and nursing facilities.

Exercising has a very positive effect on the wellbeing of people with dementia: more social contacts, less risk of falling, more independence and slowing down the process of dementia. To date, the SilverFit systems are mainly used under supervision of a physiotherapist. During this project the SilverFit is used in a different way. Exercising is no longer a therapy, but a fun and highly accessible activity that can be done in a familiar environment.

During the project experiences will be monitored and shared intensively. Part of the project is also to communicate the findings with other healthcare institutions.
